about crater community hospice
CCH was established in 1995 after a need for hospice services was identified by both John Randolph Hospital in Hopewell and Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg. At that time both facilities were community hospitals and recognized that a community based hospice could better serve the cities of Petersburg, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, and Emporia as well as the counties of Charles City, Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Greensville, Prince George, Surry, and Sussex.
CCH is governed by a Volunteer Board of Directors and an appointed Chief Executive Officer who is responsible for the day to day management of the organization. Board members live and work in the areas served by CCH as do all staff and volunteers. With a vested interest in the community, CCH strives to provide not only high quality hospice services but also multiple community services necessary to improve upon the overall quality of life to all who reside in the area. CCH maintains a strong presence in the community through membership and attendance in the Colonial Heights, Emporia, Chesterfield County, Petersburg, Dinwiddie, Hopewell-Prince George Chambers of Commerce. CCH employees are members of other local rotary clubs and serve on boards of local non-profit agencies. CCH clinical staff are highly respected for their expertise in pain management, symptom management, end-of-life care planning, and spiritual and grief counseling. Health care professionals and others in the community often call upon our staff for advice in assisting with situations prior to the actual referral for hospice services. |
