donations and support

Charitable gifts to CCH help underwrite more than 26% of patient care costs. Crater Community Hospice counts on your support to help make end-of-life care available to everyone - regardless of their ability to pay for services.

Here are several ways that you can support CCH:

Bequests
Making a bequest in a will or living trust is a simple way to provide for our work while helping to reduce your inheritance taxes. Any part, percentage, or component of estate or trust assets can be left to CCH.

Cash Contributions & Matching Gifts
Cash contributions to CCH are tax deductible. Each and every gift you make to CCH is receipted or acknowledged — regardless of how big or small — to facilitate your tax filing. You can double the impact of your gift through matching gift programs sponsored by employers. Contact your Human Resources department for the appropriate form to process the match for your gift.

Combined Federal Campaign
If you work for the federal government, you can direct your annual Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) contribution.

Commemorative Brick & Naming Opportunities
Crater Community Hospice (CCH) invites you, your family, business or organization to assist in funding the construction of the new hospice office in a way that will provide visible evidence of your commitment and support. Commemorative naming programs honoring groups and individuals are an established part of our philanthropic tradition – and will play an important role in this fund-raising effort. Contact us or learn more about Commemorative Naming Opportunities.

Gifts of Stock
Stock that has appreciated significantly over the years makes an ideal charitable contribution. Rather than pay capital gains on appreciated stock, donors can receive a charitable contribution for the value of the stock on the day it is transferred. Stock can be transferred directly from your account to Davenport & Co., for further credit to CCH.

Honor & Memorial Tribute Gifts
A gift in honor/memory of a loved one — family, friend, or co-worker — is a wonderful way to pay tribute. For each honor/memorial gift, CCH sends notification of the gift to the individual — family, friend, or neighbor of the remembered or honored person — that you designate. (Please include the name and address of the individual(s) you would like us to notify along with your gift.)

Notice of Tribute Gifts
Families may prefer to ask for memorial gifts through the obituary. The notice in the obituary might read, “In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in memory to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 South Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805. ” To ensure proper notification and dedication of these gifts, please contact CCH’s Development Department.

United Way
The United Way coordinates one of the largest annual fundraising campaigns in the country. CCH receives many generous gifts through this annual campaign. If your employer participates in the United Way campaign, you can direct your contribution to CCH.

If you have any questions or need additional information regarding charitable gifts, please contact us at (804) 526-4300.
