Stories of people we've helped
“Mom was able to complete her life with comfort, dignity and compassionate care.” – M.A., Daughter
Hospice Care is about living! There is hope! I chose Crater Community Hospice because I knew they would help my mother to live life to its fullest, while providing every comfort measure necessary to make each moment a special one. It gave me a feeling of calmness, knowing that I had done everything possible to insure Mom’s peaceful death. Through the process, I was grateful that CCH was able to bring a sense of serenity to our entire family.
“When quality of life is shaky it means so much to have the support of Crater Community Hospice.” – W.R., Spouse
I marvel at Crater Community Hospice. I have known about CCH for years, but it wasn’t until we needed them that I truly understood the support that hospice care could provide. My husband is not able to communicate now, but he is very happy to see the Chaplain, who is also a United Methodist minister. Last month, when I had to go out of town, he went to the hospital for respite care. It was wonderful knowing that even in the hospital he would receive care from the hospice team he was knows so well.
“Financially it has been such a relief for us. We just could not have found the money to get this kind of help.” – T.H., Spouse
We had several people recommend Crater Community Hospice. I couldn’t believe that our age we were even thinking about hospice, but I’m glad we did! A volunteer visits every Friday so I can go shopping and do what I need to do. Everyone is so very nice and friendly. The chaplain comes in to visit my husband and me and it has really helped us to be at peace. We don’t know what we would do without hospice.
“We became close to the social worker and their minister who also visited.” – M.J., Son
For weeks Crater Community Hospice gave us support. Nurses came in every few days to evaluate Mom’s needs and explain to us the natural process that she was going through. The Hospice Nurses maintained communication with Mom’s doctors and were available to us 24/7. Mom never had to go back to the hospital and, throughout it all, Dad had the help he needed to take care of my mom. She was comfortable and able to pass away peacefully at home with my dad by her side.
