VOLUNTEERS ARE THE HEART OF HOSPICE
Hospice Care began as a volunteer program and volunteers are still a vital element. At Crater Community Hospice, volunteers have been part of the care team since 1995. Our volunteers come from throughout our service community and have chosen to volunteer for CCH for many reasons. Some volunteers have previously benefited from the helpful presence of a CCH volunteer as a loved one received hospice care, while others have no experience with hospice but wanted to work directly with patients, while others share their time and talents in our offices or thrift shop.
Something for Everyone
There are many volunteer opportunities at Crater Community Hospice and training is provided for each position. Whether you would like to be a Companion Volunteer, working with our patients and providing support for the family or work in the CCH office supporting the CCH staff by assisting with a variety of office duties, volunteers are an important part of CCH’s success in meeting the needs of those living with serious illness in our community.
Volunteers are also needed for special events and projects, in public relations and outreach and in the Crater Thrift Shop. Thrift Shop volunteers can help sort donated items, stock the Thrift Shop shelves, or serve as a cashier. Thrift Shop volunteers work during regular Thrift Shop hours (Monday – Saturday, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm). Professional volunteers who are willing to donate their services including massage therapy, beautician services, pet care and many others, help bring quality of life to our patients and families.
